GCS runs an Introduction to Internal Communications course within its Aspire curriculum for all grades working in other disciplines (for example media, strategic campaigns and marketing, digital). The purpose of this course is to increase understanding and interest about internal comms as one of the four main communications specialisms; teach about standards, principles and best practice, and encourage participants to practise internal communications.

IC Excellence4

Internal Communications Practice at GCS is about creating excellent practice in internal communications across the Civil Service and its arm’s length bodies.

Ultimately, the project aims to lead to significantly improved levels of employee engagement, and therefore performance. There are three strands to the ICE Project.

  • Making leaders more confident and effective in communications (both within GCS and the wider Civil Service).
  • Enabling leaders to raise the standard of internal communications operation and delivery in their organisations.
  • Embedding the values of the Civil Service Leadership Statement in their organisations.
